A Little Joy ...

About a week back, I was asked to share my personal testimony during Campus Action Ministry. At first it did not seem like any trouble, after all I have been a faithful Christian; this should come naturally. I was wrong. Here a few things I realized:
1. I had to really think hard into the history of my life to reconcile recall this moment
2. I have never really actually shared this testimony before
3. It is a great way 2nd Generation Christians to re-connect with their own Salvation encounter
4. Fellow peers will be able to relate more to your sharing compared to someone else of another age
This is how the testimony turned out:
The meaning of my name means God’s grace upon my life. Long before I accepted Christ, I was already a church goer, a regular one in fact. At that age, I never knew that salvation was personal and not by association. I don’t remember every single detail but I remember going to the altar before at least once for a salvation call, but without knowing what I was doing. What I meant about my name was that ever since young, God had already watched over me closely, despite me never acknowledging Him yet.
With Mom being a faithful church goer and also serving, I always assumed that salvation was a “package”. I think it was not till my first ISCA camp when this time, I consciously accepted the Lord as my personal savior. Of course I was not certain of every detail but certain enough to know that this was what I wanted, and I’ve yet to look back ever since.
Before each of us was born, God had already seen the start and end of our life. He knows you and me better than we’ll ever know ourselves.
The bible in Jeremiah says: “ Before we were formed in our mother’s womb, God already knew who we are” (Incomplete verse)
God because He loved ALL, He has destined for us a bright and wonderful future.
Whilst it is said that God has destined us for great things, when things do not turn out right, it is largely our own choices, and God does not force us to follow His way and will not.
I remember during that camp, the same day I had that encounter, what I had was a “burning bush” episode, my phone working perfectly fine, rang during the altar call but there was no sound, and it was not on silent mode. Shell shocked, I responded to that call to reconfirm my Salvation.
In Romans 10:10 it says “that when one in his/her heart believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth of confession comes Salvation”. Amen!
Of course, I did not pick up the phone and heard God speak through the phone. But what I’m trying to say is that when God wants your attention, He will alert you in the most bizarre possible way. It’s nice to know that someone so great will care to give attention to anyone and everyone.
And I leave you with this thought from 2 Corinthians 6:2, for He says:” In an opportune time I have heard you. And in the day of Salvation I have helped you. Behold now is the right time, behold now is the day of Salvation.”
Similarly, you can experience God’s undivided attention and love. All you have to do is say YES. You are no more than a step away, decision, and a choice away. God is a gentleman, He does not force and will not force.
----------------------------------------End of Testimony-------------------------------------
I know some of you will be thinking, let me get this area of my life right, and then I will come to God. I’m waiting for (a loved one’s name) to get saved then I’ll get to know the Lord.
Remember, Salvation is personal not by association. It is your personal conviction and not someone else’s. Jesus died on the cross for ALL, not for some.
Salvation call is like a bus, and you’re at the bus stop. If you don’t board the bus now, how long are you going to wait till the next bus comes? What if something happens to you and you miss it again? Think about it.
